I have been living in South Wales for a couple of months now and to be honest, for an Icelander like me who is used to roaring wind and harsh black lava fields Wales seems like a different world. The first thing I noticed about Wales is how incredibly green it is. The second thing I noticed about Wales is how amazingly warm and welcoming the people are. The third thing I noticed about Wales is that its basically Hobbiton.
Over Christmas J and I went up to Yorkshire, North England, to be with family. While driving the backroads to Leeds one day I had an overwhelming feeling of being in a Jane Austen which lead me to think about how I feel when I am in different parts of the world. In Yorkshire, as previously mentioned, I feel like I am in a Jane Austen book, where romance is a way of life no matter what class of society you belong to. In Iceland I feel like I am in a fairytale where magic happens all the time. In Utah, I sadly don't feel like I am in a movie or a book at all, I feel more like I am at the zoo. But in Wales I feel like I am about to embark on a great journey filled with elves, trolls and dragons.
Then I found this article while unwinding on the internet after a draining day of unemployment. This article is proof that Wales is in fact Hobbiton, which in my mind also proves that Yorkshire is a place of romance, Iceland is a place of magic and Utah is a zoo.
